Our Story
Why We Do What We Do
The Pinnacle Peak and Southern Railroad is dedicated to bringing joy to children and families through hands-on experiences with our 15-inch gauge railroad, while fostering connection and supporting the Glendale, Arizona community. We believe in the power of trains to spark imagination, create lasting memories, and bring people together. Through our rides and community partnerships, we strive to be a place where wonder meets service, enriching the lives of those we serve.
About Pinnacle Peak & Southern
Pinnacle Peak & Southern (formerly Sahuaro Central Shortline) is an operating railroad museum established to collect, accommodate, and restore park model railroads. We currently operate a 15-inch gauge, quarter-scale miniature railroad for educational, historical, and recreational purposes.
We're located in the Adobe Dam Recreation Area in north Phoenix, Arizona. We currently operate on about a quarter mile of track, and each ride lasts about 8 minutes. Our current roster includes an 1859 4-4-0 steam-profile "Hurlbut" locomotive (gas-powered) that pulls two converted trolley cars and a conductor car. We are actively working on a line extension and plan to add an additional locomotive and two passenger cars.
